| Born in Uruguay, Jordi Labanda is one of the world’s most prolific commercial illustrators. His clients include American Express, Zara and Eurostar, and his work is widely published, appearing in such established magazines as The New York Times Sunday Magazine, Visionaire, Wallpaper, Tatler, Spruce, W and Vogue America. He is best known for his lavish depictions of classic contemporary characters and settings, from modernist lobbies and exotic beaches to retro ski wear and luxury accessories, all of which are done using only gouache on paper with marten-hair brushes. The vivid imagery and seamless worlds he creates reflect a new concept in modernity; it is therefore no surprise that he has spearheaded the advent of illustration into fashion and the media in recent years. |
