GROUND ZERO

2008 Spring-Summer Collection

In keeping with Ground-Zero’s philosophy. “ZERO COULD BE EVERYTHING", Spring/Summer 2008 Ground-Zero’s takes you back to 16th Century England. It all started with Shakespeare, his comedies were satirical of his Elizabethan World, and his works challenged the established norms and traditions. Shakespeare opened new doors and new standards. All these struck a cord with Ground-Zero. S/S 2008. “As you Like It” is all about humor, it pokes fun at the generation’s norms toward fashion and clothing. “I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT AVANT-GRADE MEANS”. The role of fashion and clothing is becoming more and more important, people have forgotten that clothing serves a purpose. The functionality of clothing is lost in translation, the need to shock with clothing overrides it. Clothes are not meant to be taken too seriously, it should be fun. The whimsical “I AM JUST AN ORDINARY FASHION VICTIM” print tee conveys this in your face. In keeping with Ground-Zero’s traditions, unique graphic is used to express their explicit message, in S/S 2008 fairy tale characters are taken out of their traditional images, and a sense of playfulness is injected.

AS YOU LIKE IT” jokes about the traditional approach towards clothing, fashion is not suppose to be fixed and rigid. Clothing should be a world of possibilities to its wearer, a classically tailored jacket does not have to be paired with trouser. At Ground-Zero the boundary of what fashion and clothing are is blurred further with some of S/S 2008 key looks and pieces. A t-shirt is a tuxedo; the everyday t-shirt makes a grand entrance when tuxedo detailing is incorporated, completing the look is the ribbed collar waistband thermal like pants, and trench coat is lightened up by using cotton. By mixing different clothing elements together, this collection lets the wearer amuse themselves and play around “As You like It”.

Ground-Zero’s emphasis is always placed on tailoring and special attention is paid to details. The cut of jacket is slim and fitted, zippers are used on the cuff instead of your usual buttons, and rivet prints are used for lining. A new spin on short trousers where the sides are rouched, the neck line of a t-shirt is draped. Skull buttons, smiley vampire face and the signature GZ logo are scattered among the pieces to add a special touch. The cut of denim is perfected to further illustrate Ground-Zero’s slim and elongated silhouette. New this season, Ground-Zero brings you a line of accessories, footwear and bags. The unique graphic is now not limited to clothing, it’s an accessory where it can be a necklace brooch or whatever “As You Like It”.
