If you are a fan of Lady Gaga (I’m not entirely on her side but, well I can sing one or two of her songs and also looking forward for her craziness), you need (or at least learn) to know Nicola Formichetti.
Born 1977 to an Italian father and a Japanese mother, Nicola Formichetti is destined to be where he is today. His unique style is a result of his upbringing: internationally eclectic; modern and traditional; Eastern and European.
Oh sorry I missed the point – Nicola Formichetti is a multi-talented fashion consultant, stylist, fashion director and creative director all in one body and mind.
Oh no coincident that he is involved in all these magazines that I go crazy about and is a must read on my weekly buy: Dazed & Confused, V, V Man, Another, Another Man and Vogue Hommes Japan.
Oh and the connection he has with Lady Gaga? He is the master mind behind all her craziness (besides Matthew Williams). Nicola Formichetti is the fashion consultant for Haus of Gaga- her own line of production house that does crazy and wonderful things for Lady Gaga’s usage. And he styles Lady Gaga for many of her music videos and appearance. It’s crazy yes, but the world need some craziness to balance it.
If you go check out his blog you will realized Nicola Formichetti has taken strong influence from Japanese culture and art scene and then blend it with his own ideas and other details. His vision is incredible!
Oh and he also has another official website besides the blog where you can see his work too.
Nicola Formichetti said this during a recent interview with online T Magazine (they call him Mr. Gaga!):
“I’m always trying new things, and so I never stay in one place. I like to move forward, which is why my career is made up of so many different parts: I direct magazines, I consult for fashion brands, I work with other artists, etc. I try to do as much as possible to keep inspired and learn about new things.”
“There’s way too much celebrity in fashion. I don’t really like working with celebrities, so I try to stay away from that whole machine. But of course I have met some incredibly nice and creative people who just happen to be a ‘celebrity’.”
